I am currently director of the Umeå studio of the Interactive’s Unit of RISE, Research Institutes of Sweden, and senior lecturer (universitetslektor) at the School of Architecture of the University of Umeå. At the School of Architecture, I am chair of the Preparatory Council for Research and Equal Opportunities representative.
My research fascinations lie in how to empower ethics, through design, using digital and non digital technologies as materials. Strongly believing in the power of Making, I work with makers, builders, craftsmen, dancers and designers to shape societal transformation. Within my design research activity, she produces co-design methods to boost transdisciplinary design conversations.
I am part of the council of Ideal Lab, Norway and member of the program council at the Umeå School of Architecture.
In December 2012, I defended my doctoral Thesis “Rights through Making, skills for pervasive ethics” at the Eindhoven University of Technology, Department of Industrial Design, Designing Quality in Interaction Group, supervised by Kees Overbeeke, Caroline Hummels and Pierre Levy.
From 2007 to 2011 I have been a research fellow at the University of Florence, Department of Technologies of Architecture and Design “P. Spadolini”
The main research theme since 2007 is Rights through Making, that is a result of the collaboration of the two Institutions. The research focus started from Universal Design (Design for All) and developed towards Ethics in Design, and the role that Craftsmanship and Cultures play in ethical design processes and how they empower towards designing for Pervasive Ethics.
